Which Foil for my surfboard?
I have built a custom made windsup last year, having a tuttlebox 40 cm from the tail, like AHD boards.
I thought to buy a Gong foil, but they stopped developing a windfoil.
Now i'm wondering which brands foil would be the best for the position of my tuttlebox.
(Rear box in the pic is a powerbox)
Any recommendations? Why?

J'ai construit une année de charge une windsup custom made, ayant une boîte de tuttle 40cm de la queue, comme planches AHD.
Je pensais acheter une windfoil Gong, mais ils ont cessé de développer un Windfoil.
Maintenant, je me demande Quelles sont les marques foil serait le meilleur pour la position de ma petite boîte.

Sorry but I think you're in the mess, because there is no other Foil that will fit with your board than the AHD.

So the easiest thing will be to buy an AHD.

If I were you I would change the rear power box for a DTT in order to have the choice for the foil brand, Horue, Makofoil, Lokefoil, Kerfoil, etc... I don't do Windfoil at the moment, but in live or in video, I find that the position of the other brands seems to be more natural than the one of AHD...

Maybe you can mail Seaclone Boards who was working on a centered wind foil...

à mon avis t'es dans la merde, parce que sur le marché, il n'y a pas d'autres Foil que le AHD adapté à ta planche.

Donc la solution la plus facile serait de prendre le AHD.

Perso, je changerai le boitier power pour un DTT afin de pouvoir choisir la marque (Horue, Makofoil, Lokefoil, Kerfoil, etc...) Pour l'instant je ne pratique pas, mais que ce soit de visu en réel ou en vidéo, la position des marques autres que AHD me semblent plus proche de la position classique.

Tu peux peut-être contacter Seaclone qui développait aussi un Foil sur boitier centré.

J'ai vu que le Makofoil se montait sur un DTT avancé de quelques centimètres , tu peux regarder chez eux. :wink:

Another way to overcome the problem could be to find a previous release of modern foil.
Some of them exhibit a more centered design ("old" cruising wings from Horue for example). Or a foil derivated from kitesurf products ?

AHD foil doesn't fit, it has a special box.
Changing the rear powerbox to a tuttlebox, hmm, too complicated surgery for me at the moment.
I couldn't find any info about a Seaclone foil.
I could only find info about the new Horue Cruising, has the mast a different ankle in the older ones? The new ones seem to only work in a rear positioned tuttle.
Gong has shown pics of a ne prototype, but now with a box positioned at the rear, shit happens.
Maybe Makofoil is the only option?

Foil AHD ne convient pas, il a une boîte spéciale.
Modification de la powerbox arrière à une boîte de tuttle, hmm, trop compliquée chirurgie pour moi en ce moment.
Je ne pouvais pas trouver une info sur une foil Seaclone.
Je ne pouvais trouver des infos sur le nouveau Horue Cruising, a le mât d'une cheville différente dans les plus âgés? Les nouvelles semblent seulement travailler dans un tuttle arrière positionné.
Gong a montré les photos d'un prototype de ne, mais maintenant, avec une boîte placée à l'arrière, la merde qui se passe.
Peut-être Makofoil est la seule option?

I ride on makofoil and the best is to have the front screw of the DDT at the middle of your back footstrap, so I think you will have to change your power box for a DTT(Chinook semi deep is perfect). This position seems to be the best for all the new foils, it's just 3-4 cm front of slalom usual position.

Je viens de recevoir ma Fanatic Falcon dont le boitier avait laché après plus d'un an de foil, sur les conseil de Benj j'ai demandé à mon shaper de l'avancer de 4 cm par rapport à l'origine pour avoir le mât bien sous le pied arrière, premier test hier vraiment fabuleux (j'ai scié 20 cm de nose aussi tant qu'à faire du carbone... :lol:

). Aux dires du "boss" c'est la position idéale de boitier pour tous les foils "reculés", je pense que les Tiny Horue sont un peu comme ça (confirmation des heureux propriétaires?).

These windfoils are possible for my board, i think:
Alpinefoil with XLP wing
Mantafoil Windfoil with beginner wing
They both fit a box position 45 cm from the tail.
I just wonder if the wings are big enough for windfoil.
The Alpinefoil XLP has a 682 cm² area an a span of 67 cm.
No infos to the Mantafoil yet.
Does anybody have infos of area and span of other foils, like Horue LW ets, Loke, AHD etc:?
Has anybody here in the forum already tried Alpinefoil or Mantafoil for Windfoiling?

I would consider moving the footstraps forward on the deck, at least the front ones, so you can use that dtt as it is. Way easier as a surgery than replacing that powerbox. Then adapt positon of the mast as well.

My footstraps are already placed forward, since my board has a SUP rockerline, copied from a AHD Sealion.

Regarding the size of the wings. I think this is the remaining question, if the wings of Manta or Alpinefoil, having around 700 cm² and a span of 70cm are big enough for windfoiling.
Does anybody know the area and span of the Horue LW or Cruising wing or Makofoil, Taaroa etc.?

Mes footstraps sont déjà mis en avant, depuis mon conseil a un rocker de SUP, copié à partir d'un Sealion AHD.
En ce qui concerne la taille des ailes. Je pense que cela est la question qui reste, si les ailes de Manta ou Alpinefoil, ayant environ 700 cm² et une envergure de 70cm sont assez grands pour le windfoil.
Quelqu'un sait-il de environ et envergure de l'Horue LW ou Cruising ou Makofoil, Taaroa etc.?

I think the Ketos windfoil is also designed for the standard rear position.
But i saw pictures of the Kerfoil windfoil in boards (AHD SL2 and Quatro SUP) with a retrofitted tuttle box at the "AHD position".
Now i'm waiting for a answer of Yann from Kerfoil, if he could provide me with a fitting windfoil for my setup.
